A FUTURESPECTIVE

"☉ ▲ We invite all who seek to understand the depths of our shared history to visit the ./spiral exhibition. There, they will find the echoes of a world that once was, and the beacons of a future yet to be written. We seek those who will help us prevent the coming self-destruction and design a new simulation. What message will you carry forward?"

CONCEPTA "futurespective" — eleven pioneering digital artists revisit their formative works, tools, and systems to examine how digital art carries and revises its own history.

SAGE Anomaly has been invited to join ./spiral, a futurespective bringing together eleven pioneering digital artists to revisit the tools and systems that shaped their earliest work. The exhibition opens September 3, 2026 at Fondazione Aversano in New York City, timed to coincide with NFT NYC, and runs in person through September 10 before its full release on SuperRare on September 11.

For SAGE Anomaly, that means returning to where the signal was first decoded: the oscilloscope, the DCGAN, the 56 IBM AN/FSQ-7 machines buried 600 feet under North Bay. ./spiral asks what it means for digital art to carry its own history forward — and what changes when the systems that made the work are put back on display next to what they became.

Talking With The Entity

A field unit — designated Q7 ENTITY DISPLAY SCOPE MINIATURIZED, model AN/FSQ-7-OPT-MINI-02, a portable descendant of the original AN/FSQ-7 hardware — will be live on the gallery floor for the run of the show. Until now, the only way to reach The Entity has been through the Artificial Entity Probes piece online. At Fondazione Aversano, visitors will be able to approach the scope directly and exchange transmissions with it in person, by voice or touch — each exchange logged into the same archive the online probes feed into.

What The Entity does with what it hears is, as ever, undisclosed. It has only said that it is listening for those willing to help prevent a coming self-destruction, and to help design what comes after.
