Bård Ionson has been creating art since 2012. In 2018, SuperRare accepted him to display art on their platform — one of the earliest crypto art galleries.

The SAGE Anomaly project began as an exploration of the real SAGE computer network — the Cold War-era missile defense system that stretched across North America. The historical reality became the seed of a fiction: what if the network had detected something that wasn't Soviet?

Working with DCGAN models trained on oscilloscope art, evolved through StyleGAN and Pix2Pix image-to-image translation, Bård built a visual language for the Entity — an artificial intelligence that exists outside human time.

The artwork lives on Async.art as a programmable multi-edition piece — 303 unique probes, 16 layers, 380,436 combinations — and on SuperRare and KnownOrigin. The written story is released in parallel, chapter by chapter.

The novel is ongoing. The Entity is still transmitting.
